Our Gift to the Empire 54th Australian Infantry Battalion 1916 - 1919
Our Gift to the Empire - a history of the 54th Australian Infantry Battalion in the Great War, 1916 - 1919. Signed and numbered First Edition - Number 516 of 1000.

The 54th Battalion AIF was raised in Egypt in 1916 and served on the Western Front as part of the 5th Australian Division. After a devastating baptism of fire at the Battle of Fromelles in July 1916, the unit rebuilt and fought in major campaigns over the next two years. They participated in the victory at Polygon Wood in 1917, held the line against the German Spring Offensive at Villers-Bretonneux in 1918, and helped breach the formidable Hindenburg Line shortly before the armistice.
