The Green and White Diamond - a history of the 20th Battalion A.I.F. in the Great War, 1915 - 1919. Signed First Editon.
Raised in March 1915, the 20th Battalion, AIF first saw action at Gallipoli later that year, holding defensive positions at Russell's Top until the evacuation. Transferred to the Western Front in March 1916, the New South Wales unit endured three years of brutal trench warfare in France and Belgium. The battalion fought in major engagements, notably repelling a massive counter-attack at Lagnicourt, holding the line during the 1918 German Spring Offensive, and spearheading final Allied victories at Amiens and Mont St Quentin. Disbanded in April 1919, the 20th Battalion suffered heavy losses—with 848 killed and 3,143 wounded—and earned numerous bravery decorations, including a Victoria Cross.
