A collection of rare and significant maps from the Royal Society of Tasmania's collection — many of them little seen by the public — published to showcase the breadth and historical significance of the Society's cartographic holdings. The maps principally cover Van Diemen's Land from the earliest days of European contact and settlement, but the collection extends to areas "beyond".

An account of the first convict settlement on Maria Island, off Tasmania's east coast, drawing on the original Register of Convicts held by the Oxfordshire County Records Office in Oxford, England — including tabulated information on all 347 convicts held at the settlement (1 female and 346 male), transcribed from the original register.
