This book is a biography of Henry Hinsby, apothecary /pharmacist, who arrived in Hobart Town, Tasmania from England in 1835.

Hinsby worked for the Convict Department but was established as a chemist and druggist in Elizabeth Street by the late 1840s and became a leading citizen and a prominent member of the Baptist church. His apothecary chest - with medicine bottles, jars and a measuring cup - survived and is now in the collection of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, TMAG.
