Ida West reminiscences of a Tasmanian Aborigine - a reprint of the first autobiography published by a Palawa person.

Ida "Aunty Ida" West (1919–2003) was born on Cape Barren Island and moved to Flinders Island as a child. She spent much of her life advocating for the rights, land and health of the Tasmanian Aboriginal community, serving as president of the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre and playing a key role in the return of Wybalenna to the Palawa community in 1999. She was awarded the Centenary Medal in 2001 and appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2002.

First published in 1984, Pride Against Prejudice is the first autobiography published by a Palawa person, drawing together stories of family, friends and life on Flinders Island and mainland Tasmania. This is a 2025 reprint.
