The unit history of the 51st Battalion A.I.F., written by Neville Browning and published in 2007. The 51st Battalion was raised in South Australia and Western Australia in 1916 and served on the Western Front as part of the 13th Brigade, 4th Division AIF — the same brigade as the 52nd Battalion — seeing action at Polygon Wood, Passchendaele, Villers-Bretonneux and through the Hundred Days Offensive to the armistice in November 1918.
Browning researched the men of the 51st individually as well as the battalion's collective operations, drawing on diaries, letters, nominal rolls and official records. At 432 pages this is a thorough and detailed regimental history.
