Antarctic Eye – The Visual Journey | Lynne Andrews | 2007 | Signed & Numbered 52/100 [USED – HCDJ – Slipcase – Very Good]

Lynne Andrews's survey of over 200 years of Antarctic visual art — from the earliest scientific and botanical illustrations made during the first European expeditions into southern waters through to contemporary postmodern Antarctic art, featuring the work of over fifty artists.

The book traces how Antarctica has been seen and represented visually since it first came within reach of European exploration — the naturalist illustrators who documented its wildlife, the landscape artists and photographers of the heroic exploration era, and the artists who have responded to the ice in the decades since scientific stations established a permanent human presence.

At 271 indexed pages it is a comprehensive and visually rich survey. Winner of the University of Tasmania prize for Best Book by a Tasmanian Publisher in 2007.

This is the signed limited edition — numbered 52 of 100 copies, signed by the author Lynne Andrews.
