Frank Bolt's photographic record of aspects of Tasmania that were disappearing at the time of publication — old buildings, rural structures, weathered farmhouses, abandoned machinery, forgotten corners of the landscape that were being lost to time, development and neglect.

Published in 1992 in a signed limited edition of 1,250 numbered copies, Vanishing Tasmania is a significant document of its era — the early 1990s were a period of considerable change in Tasmanian rural and heritage landscapes, and Bolt's black and white photography captured what was being lost before it disappeared entirely.

At 288 pages with a full index and large format (27.5cm x 22.5cm), this is a substantial photographic essay rather than a simple collection of pictures.
