Tasmania has a long and unusual cricketing story: the colony played in the first first-class cricket match in Australia, defeating Victoria by three wickets in 1851, and produced fine cricketers through the late 19th century, but was overlooked when the Sheffield Shield was established in 1892 and not admitted to that competition until 1977. This book traces that story through to the present-day (as of publication) Tasmanian Tigers.
