The 22nd Battalion was a Victorian unit raised in 1915 as part of the 6th Brigade, 2nd Division AIF. It served briefly at Gallipoli before transferring to the Western Front, where it saw action at Pozières, Mouquet Farm, Bullecourt, Polygon Wood and Passchendaele, and through the Hundred Days Offensive to the armistice.
