A photographic and illustrated record of the 12th Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, during its 1971 tour of duty in South Vietnam. Edited by G.F.B. Rickards and published in 1971 — the same year as the tour — this is a contemporary document rather than a later retrospective, produced at the time for the men who served.

Unit publications of this kind were printed in small numbers for regimental use and were never commercially distributed. They rarely come onto the market and when they do, copies in reasonable condition are sought by veterans, their families, and researchers of Australian involvement in the Vietnam War. This is the first edition.

The 12th Field Regiment served as the Australian artillery support unit during the final period of Australia's combat involvement in Vietnam. 1971 was the year Australian forces began their withdrawal, making this a record of a significant moment in the regiment's history.
