The Story of The Port of Launceston

The Story of The Port of Launceston

A history of the Port of Launceston Authority and the development of shipping on the Tamar, by Sir Raymond Alfred Ferrall CBE (1906–2000) — a prominent Launceston businessman, first-class cricketer (Tasmanian captain, 1935), and Warden of the Port of Launceston Authority, for which he was made CBE in 1969. The book covers, among other developments, English civil engineer Henry Hunter's 1880s recommendations for a deep-water port at Long Reach or Bell Bay to accommodate the growing overseas apple and pear trade.
