Peter Cundall took up gardening and landscaping in Tasmania after leaving the Army in 1956, became a founding member of the Organic Gardening and Farming Society, and started what's believed to be the world's first gardening talkback radio segment, on a Launceston station, in 1967. He went on to present ABC's Gardening Australia from 1989 to 2008.
