Australia's First Cookbook - The English & Australian Cookery Book by Edward Abbott, with Companion Volume. First published in 1864, Tasmanian Edward Abbott's English & Australian Cookery Book is thought to be Australia's first published cookbook. Abbott — a Hobart landowner, newspaper proprietor (founder of the Hobart Town Advertiser in 1839) and member of the Tasmanian Parliament — published the book pseudonymously as "an Australian Aristologist," combining traditional English recipes with native ingredients, alongside advice on servants, smoking and locally produced wine.

Here it has been reproduced along with a sesquicentenary Companion Volume, published by the Culinary Historians of Tasmania in 2014, with authoritative essays on Australian culinary history.
