At 576 pages with black and white illustrations throughout and a section of colour photographs, the Designers' Manual covers the full scope of permaculture design thinking: reading landscapes, water harvesting, soil building, forest gardens, urban systems, energy, and the ethics and principles underlying the approach. It remains the most comprehensive single reference on permaculture design ever published, and nothing has superseded it.

Mollison grew up in Stanley on Tasmania's northwest coast and spent years as a researcher before developing permaculture alongside Holmgren at the University of Tasmania. The system he built went on to influence sustainable agriculture and land design practice globally.

This book is the core text. Out of print and not easy to find in any condition. Copies in reasonable shape at a fair price don't stay available for long. This copy is used, in generally good condition. It has been neatly covered in clear contact plastic by the previous owner — which has preserved the covers — and the previous owner's details are stamped on the title page.
