The story of Alfred Barrett Biggs, pioneer in astronomy, seismology and telecommunications.

Viewing the 1974 transit of Venus at Campbell Town, Tasmania in the company of a group of American astronomers served to inspire Alfred Barrett Biggs' life long passion for science.

Acknowledged as one of the founding fathers of seismology in Australia, in his later years Biggs also became popularly known as Launceston's Astronomer Royal. He is also recognised as having made the first long distance telephone call in Australia.
