The revised and expanded second edition of Peter Henning's history of the 2/40th Battalion AIF — one of the most significant Tasmanian stories of the Second World War. The 2/40th was raised largely from Tasmanian volunteers in 1940 and sent to defend Timor in early 1942.

The 2/12th was a Tasmanian infantry battalion raised at the outbreak of the Second World War, and its history covers service in the Middle East, the defence of Timor, and the Pacific campaign through to the end of the war.
The unit history of the 51st Battalion A.I.F., written by Neville Browning and published in 2007. The 51st Battalion was raised in South Australia and Western Australia in 1916 and served on the Western Front as part of the 13th Brigade, 4th Division AIF — the same brigade as the 52nd Battalion — seeing action at Polygon Wood, Passchendaele, Villers-Bretonneux and through the Hundred Days Offensive to the armistice in November 1918.
