A social history of Hydro Tasmania told through first-hand testimony, written by Heather Felton and published by Hydro Tasmania in 2013. Building Tasmania's hydroelectric power system was one of the largest and most ambitious engineering undertakings in the state's history, carried out over nearly a century in some of the most remote and difficult terrain in the country. Ticklebelly Tales tells that story through the people who actually did the work — the construction workers, engineers and families who lived in the temporary townships built around the dam and power station sites, often in genuinely harsh conditions, from 1910 through to 2006.

At 512 pages with colour and black and white photographs throughout and a full index, this is a substantial and significant book. It went out of print for a period after its original publication and copies commanded high prices on the secondhand market — it has since been brought back into print and is once again available new, at a fraction of what scarce used copies were fetching. Not widely stocked. If you've been looking for a copy after missing it the first time around, this is your chance.
