Benedictine monk James Ambrose Cotham, arrived in Van Diemen's Land in 1835 and served his ministry over fifteen years amongst the convicts and the poorest of the colony's citizens in the decades leading up to the end of transportation and the transition to a free state.

This is the story of Cotham's ministry amongst the convicts and the poorest citizens of the colony.
