Dean was among the small group of paddlers who explored these remote rivers before they became widely known — navigating country that few people had seen from water level, and documenting the experience in this account published in 2002.

At 120 indexed pages with colour and black and white photographs, this is a personal account of river adventure in the Tasmanian wilderness that gives a different perspective on the same country that Dombrovskis photographed and the Franklin campaign fought to protect.
