Ringarooma, in Tasmania's North-East, began as "Krushka Town," a private township founded in 1882 by the Krushka brothers, whose enterprise grew out of the region's tin mining boom of the 1870s. The town was renamed Ringarooma in 1888. Glenn Carins traces the history and pioneering families of the district, including Alberton, Krushka Town, Pinega, Talawa/Maurice and Trenah.

The book is organised chronologically by district and theme — exploration and early access to 1890; the founding of Krushka Town and Alberton mining and farming families; the Briseis Water Race, cooperative butter factory, timber industry and WWI soldier settlement; the Mineral Banks mine and interwar town identities; wartime service and sport between the wars; post-war farming arrivals; and Ringarooma today — with a full family index at the back covering generations of local families including the Krushka, Wardlaw, Denholm, Rattray, Thompson, Jacobs, Stingel, Kidd, Cox, Berwick, Waldron, Sutherland, Bennett, Hayward, Sowell and Branch families, among many others.
