A botanical reference covering the flora of the smaller islands of the outer Furneaux Group in eastern Bass Strait — those lying off Flinders Island, Cape Barren Island and Clarke Island.
Written by Harris, Buchanan and Connolly and published in 2001, the book documents the plant species found across these largely remote and rarely visited islands, with illustrations throughout.
The outer Furneaux islands support a distinct flora — influenced by their isolation, Bass Strait climate and the presence of large seabird colonies whose activity shapes the vegetation. This is the only dedicated botanical reference for these islands and is not duplicated by mainland Tasmanian flora guides.
Out of print since publication and not easy to find. Useful for botanists, naturalists, researchers and anyone with a specific interest in the Furneaux Group.
