Untold tales of fish and fishermen of South-Eastern Tasmania, by Jim Bridge of Hobart, drawing on four generations of his own family's fishing history. The Bridge family fished from Oyster Cove and the D'Entrecasteaux Channel before taking up land at Nubeena, on the Tasman Peninsula, where they ran a barracouta smoking operation from around 1912, carrying the catch to Hobart aboard their boat Inez. In 1925, Jim's father George Bridge commissioned the fishing vessel Storm Bay from renowned Tasmanian shipwright Percy Coverdale at Nubeena — a boat the family worked and maintained until 1963, and which survives today, restored and exhibited at the 2007 Australian Wooden Boat Festival. Jim Bridge himself went fishing in 1947, continuing the family trade after moving to Hobart in 1941.
