Henry Button (1829–1914) was one of 19th-century Launceston's most prominent figures — rising from cub reporter to sole proprietor of the Launceston Examiner by 1887, and serving as Launceston alderman and mayor. He married Emma Glover, granddaughter of the celebrated colonial artist John Glover.

First published in 1909, Flotsam and Jetsam is his autobiography, covering his life in England and Tasmania alongside a detailed account of the introduction of responsible government to the colony — touching on figures and places across the state, including Campbell Town. This is a 1993 facsimile edition, produced by the Examiner to mark its 150th anniversary, with a comprehensive index compiled by the Launceston Historical Society.
