The unit history of the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3 RAR) covering two tours of duty in South Vietnam — the first tour of 1967–1968, and the second tour of 1971 (documented separately as "The Riflemen"). 3 RAR was one of the most continuously deployed Australian battalions of the Vietnam War, and their two tours bracket the middle and final periods of Australian involvement in the conflict.
The 1967–1968 tour covered some of the most intensive fighting of the war including the aftermath of the Tet Offensive; the 1971 tour came as Australian forces were beginning their withdrawal from South Vietnam.
This is a substantial and thoroughly documented unit history.
This copy is used but has never been opened — it remains wrapped in its original protective plastic, making it effectively as-new internally. A genuinely rare find for a 2008 unit history.
