As a child Musquito witnessed the British settlement of Sydney, as a young adult he took part in resistance to that settlement, for which he was sentenced to Norfolk Island. After transfer to Van Diemen's Land he played a part in escalating violence between the Indigenous people and European settlers for which he was hung in 1824 at the height of the conflict.
