K.R. von Stieglitz's short history of Ross — the historic Midlands town on the Macquarie River about 10 minutes south of Campbell Town, known for its Georgian streetscape, the convict-carved Ross Bridge (1836) and its position as one of the best-preserved colonial towns in Australia. Ross is also becoming known as a dark sky destination — the surrounding Midlands countryside offers some of the best stargazing conditions in Tasmania.
