The story of Winsome "Win" King and Clyde Clayton, who lived their lives together in one of the most remote parts of Tasmania — the far South West. Written by Janet Fenton, the daughter of Win's brother Denny King, who tells the story from direct, first-hand family knowledge of the country and the people.
Win and Clyde had very different personalities and passions, yet built a strong partnership in a place that demanded real resilience and independence. Their story sits alongside the better-known account of Denny King — the subject of King of the Wilderness — as part of the wider story of the small community that lived and worked in the remote South West around Melaleuca and Port Davey.
At 316 pages with colour illustrations and a full index, this is a personal and detailed account of a way of life that has largely disappeared from Tasmania.
