Ned Terry's collection of accounts from people who told him they had seen a thylacine — stories gathered from across Tasmania from people who believed the Tasmanian tiger had survived beyond its official extinction date of 1936. Terry spent years collecting these accounts and this book brings them together, illustrated with black and white photographs throughout.
At 142 pages it sits alongside Col Bailey's Tiger Tales in the literature of those who believed — and searched — rather than accepted the official verdict of extinction.
This copy is signed by Ned Terry and includes a one-page handwritten letter from Terry to the previous owner, discussing his ongoing thylacine searches and — notably — references to the smell of the thylacine. For serious collectors of thylacine material this is an extraordinary provenance detail: a primary document from one of the most dedicated thylacine searchers of his era, written in his own hand about the evidence he was pursuing.
