Therese Mulford compiled this directory of Tasmanian picture framemakers working between 1830 and 1930 with the support of a Tasmanian Research Publications Fund grant, published through the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG).
It opens with histories of framemaking generally and in Tasmania specifically, and of the materials and fabrication methods used in the colony, before setting out a chronological listing of framemakers and a section on artists and their associated framemakers. The directory itself covers convict-made frames and distinctive frames by otherwise unknown makers, through to an alphabetical listing of individual framemakers.
