The Naval & Military Press facsimile edition of the unit history of the Sixteenth Battalion AIF in the Great War.
Raised in September 1914 largely from Western Australian and South Australian recruits as part of the 4th Brigade, the 16th Battalion landed at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 and fought in the desperate battles around Sari Bair before moving to the Western Front in 1916. There it endured major actions including Pozières, Bullecourt, and the Somme, earning three Victoria Crosses along the way, and took part in the decisive Allied advance near Amiens in August 1918 before the war's end.
