Illumination - showcasing the work of artist Philip Wolfhagen |Used HC|

Illumination is the catalogue for the first major survey of Longford-based painter Philip Wolfhagen's work, developed jointly by the Newcastle Art Gallery and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery and shown at TMAG's Argyle Galleries in 2013. The Gordon Darling Foundation-sponsored publication includes six new essays on Wolfhagen, among them Tim Winton's "The Island Seen and Felt: Some Thoughts About Landscape."

Wolfhagen, born in Launceston in 1963 and trained at the Tasmanian School of Art and the Sydney College of the Arts, is known for landscapes built up in oil and beeswax on linen, drawing on Tasmania's Central Highlands and Great Western Tiers; his work is held by the National Gallery of Victoria, and he was a Wynne Prize finalist in 2017.
