The author NJB Plomley draws together the observations on the Aborigines made by all the known visitors to Tasmanian shores prior to 1803 - the voyagers Tasman, Marion du Fresne, Furneaux, Cook, Bligh, Cox, Hayes, Bass and Flinders, and the great French expeditions led by D'Entrecasteaux (1792, 1793) and Baudin (1802).
