Unit History of the Seventh Battalion AIF in the Great War. Raised in Victoria in 1914 as part of the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, the 7th Battalion fought at Gallipoli, where it earned the rare distinction of having four of its members awarded the Victoria Cross. It then transferred to Europe in 1916, spending the next two and a half years in the trenches of the Western Front, beginning with the Battle of Pozières on the Somme.
