In the later decades of the 19th century Wellington Street, Launceston, became a hub for a number of potteries - McHugh Brothers being one that thrived for many decades producing salt glazed earthenware pipes for the city's sewerage network. McHugh Pottery also became renowned as producer of richly coloured glazed ceramic items for the home and garden. This history of the pottery charts the growth and eventual passing of of McHugh Brothers Pottery and catalogues many of their many of the tens they produced.
