This book records many of the old documents from the early convict settlement of Van Diemen's Land between 1803 and 1822.
In September 1803 the settler folk of Van Diemen's Land gathered at the Risdon Cove settlement on the River Derwent so a muster of settlers and stock could be conducted. From until 1820, British officialdom meticulously used these musters as a colonial census. This early British settlement procedure meant the survival of a unique record of the colony's growth and many of these documents are recorded in this book.
