Compiled by P.R. Last, E.O.G. Scott and F.H. Talbot, this remains a major reference work on Tasmania's fish species, illustrated throughout with black and white drawings and photographs. Despite its age, it continues to be cited today in contemporary scientific taxonomic literature and the Fishes of Australia database, a testament to the thoroughness of the original research.
