A collection of treasured recipes from the members of the Country Women's Association Esk Valley Group in northern Tasmania, published in 1999.
The Esk Valley takes its name from the South Esk and North Esk Rivers that drain the Northern Midlands and Meander Valley — the CWA group covered the towns and farming communities of this district, an area of pastoral and agricultural land that includes Campbell Town, Ross, Longford, Cressy and the surrounding country.
At 85 pages with a few colour photographs and a full index, this is the kind of community cookbook that documents not just recipes but the domestic food culture of a specific rural Tasmanian community at a particular moment in time — the kind of book that although frequently reprinted still becomes genuinely hard to find.
