The record of the 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment's (2 RAR) second deployment to East Timor — serving as AUSBATT V of the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET) from October 2001 to April 2002.

The title refers to the western border region with Indonesian West Timor that 2 RAR had patrolled during their first deployment as part of INTERFET in 1999, when the battalion was among the first Australian troops into Dili following the post-referendum violence. This second deployment, two years later, saw the battalion return to the same border country under the UN's transitional administration as East Timor moved toward formal independence in May 2002 — taking over from 4 RAR and handing over to 3 RAR at the end of the tour.

Written by Dave Good and published in 2004, the book documents the deployment through text and colour photographs — the operations, the personnel and daily life on the ground during a tour that saw East Timor through the final months before independence.

At 286 pages with colour illustrations throughout and a full index, this is a well-produced unit record of an important period in Australia's most significant peacekeeping commitment of the era.
