A commonsense manual of home economics and beyond from Tasmanian and Campbell Town's own thrifty housewife superstar, Marjorie Bligh.
Born in nearby Ross in 1917, Marjorie Bligh lived for years right here in Campbell Town before later moving to Devonport, and became one of Tasmania's best-known personalities — known as "Tasmania's Mrs Beeton." She is widely described — including by her biographer, who interviewed Barry Humphries on the subject — as an inspiration for his character Dame Edna Everage.
Over her lifetime she wrote six books covering cooking, home economics, craft, gardening and household advice. This is her signature manual, At Home, first published in 1965 and revised through four editions to this, its final, 1999 edition. Marjorie died in 2013, aged 96.
