The Circular Head District Agricultural, Pastoral, Horticultural and Poultry Association held its first show in November 1907, on what was then the old cricket ground. The current showground, on reclaimed sand dunes and a former rubbish tip, was built up by volunteer working bees using up to 80 men and their horses and drays. The organisation was renamed the Circular Head Agricultural Society in 1916, and the show has run almost every year since, with cancellations only for the 1919 influenza epidemic, the 1942–43 war years, and a 1949 polio scare. Published to mark the show's centenary in 2008, this book, by the Circular Head Agricultural Society, traces its full history.
