A historical novel set at Patterdale — John Glover's property near Evandale in northern Van Diemen's Land — and told through the lives of Glover's family in the colonial period. Garrow Head draws on the history of the Glover family and their neighbours at Patterdale to explore what colonial life actually looked like on the ground — the farming, the relationships with convict workers, the interactions with the local Aboriginal community, and the domestic realities behind the landscapes Glover was painting.
